Different strokes for different folks. Some people enjoy giving and receiving oral sex while others are too shy. Do you get-off on being tied up or does being restrained freak you out?

Different sexual preferences are the flavor of life — it keeps things interesting. But what about when your partner suggests a sex act or fetish that you’ve never heard of? You might be caught off guard, but don’t worry, we’re here to help. In this article, we’ll uncover some of the strangest and most uncommon kinks and fetishes that you may never have heard of. Who knows, you might discover something that piques your interest! Leave your inhibitions at the door and let’s explore some out-of-the-box fetishes.

1. Actirasty

There’s nothing quite like a warm, sunny day to lift your spirits. But what about when the sun’s rays get you more than just warm and tan, but sexually excited? You may have a fetish known as actirasty. For those who get hot from the sun (in more ways than one), this fetish can turn dangerous, quick. While the sun provides your body with much-needed vitamin D, overexposure can cause skin cancer, burns, and excessive wrinkles. Some sun-seekers claim that tan lines or parts of the body where the sun doesn’t reach is another turn-on. If the sun’s rays make you horny, invest in plenty of sunscreen and an oversized hat to make sure you’re not sacrificing safety for sexual arousal.

2. Agalmatophilia

Many statues are designed to look feminine and attractive. The other half is naked! Maybe that’s why so many people are sexually attracted to statues. This fetish is known as agalmatophilia and goes beyond just statues to include mannequins and dolls as well. There’s something to be said for a sexual figure that doesn’t talk back. The sex toy industry is worth $15 billion and this includes sex dolls. Today’s sex dolls aren’t the same blow-up dolls your buddy bought you for your bachelor party. With AI technology and creepily realistic features, it’s no surprise that these sex dolls and even erotic statues are the objects of sexual desire for countless people.

3. Formicophilia

Most people are repulsed by insects, spiders, and other things that creep and crawl through the night. But not if you have formicophilia. A form of zoophilia, people with formicophilia are sexually aroused by insects crawling on them or even biting them. Most people with this fetish prefer small insects like ants, but for some, the bigger the better! As if this wasn’t creepy enough, the insects are often applied to the person’s genitals for increased sexual pleasure. Just be careful that no bugs decide to burrow too far into your sensitive areas!

4. Knismolagnia

Sex is supposed to be fun! Do you sometimes laugh and joke around with your partner before getting down to business? Playful foreplay is common, and apparently, so is being sexually aroused by being tickled. For people with knismolagnia, tickling sparks more than just uncontrollable laughter. It gets them turned on! Some people even get turned on by watching other people get tickled. Knismolgania is also related to foot fetishes (podophilia) since these are an especially ticklish part of the body. They say laughter is the best medicine, so maybe people with knismolagnia are onto something?

5. Chasmophilia

The curves and crevices of the human body are an obvious turn-on for so many people. But what about if actual crevices turn you on? We’re talking about caves, valleys, and other hidden gems found in nature. Chasmophilia is a fetish that describes becoming sexually aroused by seeing and experiencing caverns, crevices, and valleys. Maybe it’s their mystery, seclusion, or underlying danger that excite and titillate some people. Others with this fetish are simply aroused by small spaces, which may be attributed to feelings of restriction.

6. Psychrophilia

A quality sex session should be hot and steamy. Cold showers are often used to send your horniness for the hills unless of course, you have psychrophilia or are sexually aroused by being cold or seeing others who are cold. This fetish gives the concept of goosebumps and chills a whole new meaning! It’s common for people to find hard nipples a turn-on, which is one physical reaction to being cold. But people with psychrophilia are excited by a lot more than just perky nipples. Get ready to take an ice bath, turn down the temperature on the air conditioner, or engage in sex outdoors during the winter months. All of these scenarios are sure to get someone with psychrophilia hot and bothered — or should we say cold?

7. Pubephilia

Over 80% of women shave or groom “down there”. The amount of pubic hair you have is a personal preference. In fact, in some parts of the world people of both genders don’t shave at all, including legs, underarms, and yes, crotches! People with pubephilia are actually turned on by pubic hair, so for them, the hairier the better. It doesn’t even have to be the sight of pubic hair, for some people, the thought alone is enough to get them sexually aroused. Like a preview of what’s to come (literally), pubic hair represents sexuality. It’s like the gateway to the good stuff. It’s also interesting to note that pubic hair was commonplace until porn stars started shaving, waxing, and all but eliminating it for a better view of their genitals (and a more youthful appearance). But don’t dare to go bare if your significant other has a hankering for hair.

8. Spectrophilia

Are you fascinated by the paranormal? Does fear excite you in a different way? If you find yourself sexually aroused by the thought of spirits or ghosts (or the thought of sex with one), you may have spectrophilia. Let’s face it, there’s something sexy about vampires, demons, and tall dark strangers. A brush of cold air across your naked body, an outer-body experience, and an orgasm that sends you into another dimension. This is where the second element of this particular fetish comes into play. Some people think the idea of ghosts is just plain sexy, whereas other people claim to have actually had a sexual encounter with one. Don’t knock it ‘till you try it!

9. Xylophilia

Does it turn you on when your man gets wood or does plain wood just turn you on? There’s actually a fetish known as xylophilia which describes those who are sexually aroused, attracted to, or fascinated by wood or nature. With so many beautiful things in nature, it’s no surprise that some people become aroused by the sights, smells, and sounds of nature. Babbling brooks, breathtaking mountaintops, and tall, hard, thick trees — it’s all a little erotic, and those with xylophilia would agree.

10. Coprophilia

With the discovery that vaginal squirting may somehow be connected to urinating, more people are open to the idea of peeing on their partners during sex — or being peed on. This fetish is known as urophilia or a “golden shower”. But coprophilia takes things one step further — and around the corner. This fetish describes those who are sexually aroused, fascinated, or pleased by feces and defecation. This fetish gives new meaning to the phrase getting down and dirty.

Don’t let conventional norms stop you from exploring your taboo fetishes. While these obsessions are uncommon, it doesn’t mean they’re unnatural. If it turns you on, it’s worth exploring. Just be sure to do so in a safe and legal manner. Happy humping!

Well, eight out of ten I hadn’t heard of. And one of the remaining two I had heard of but didn’t know the fancy word it fell under… so I have been educated! Thank you. But I’ll stick with my kinks lol.

When it comes to men I have a very definite case of Pubephilia, I didn’t realise it was a thing.
