Lovely 2.0 Smart Cock Ring Review

The folks over at Lovely reached out and asked if we would be interested in testing out the new updated version of Lovely 2.0 Smart Cock Ring and  I must admit I wasn’t familiar with the first version but after a little googling I now know that they were crowdfunded on Indiegogo. This version apparently has all the teething issues ironed out.

As well as being a regular vibrating cock ring, the Lovely is also an app-controlled toy.  We have quite a lot of toys that are controlled via app and as tech enthusiasts, we enjoy using them in bed. I know folks are on the fence about them but I think especially for folks that are in long distance relationships, app controllable toys are definitely helping the gap feel a little smaller.

The packaging the Lovely 2.0 Smart Cock Ring comes in sleek, modern and minimalistic – exactly how I like it and we were off to a good start. Inside the box, you received your toy, an instruction manual, a triangular charging dock and a USB charging cable.

The toy is placed on the charging dock and a green light comes on to signify that a connection has formed. I find this method of charging usually quite good but in this case, I found it to be extremely glitchy. I have struggled to find connection correctly – I place the toy on the dock but the light does not come on to show a connection is being formed. It requires me to remove the cable from the dock, then put the cable back in again several times and even lifting the toy off the dock and replacing it for it to evenly charge. Once a connection (green light appears) has formed, even removing the ring – the light will still stay on. I have found trying to figure out if it is actually charging or not to be quite a frustrating experience.

So we tested the Lovely 2.0 Smart Cock Ring out without the app first. I personally find the vibrations from the Lovely 2.0 Smart Cock Ring to be quite underwhelming.

The toy is nowhere near powerful enough to even bring me close to orgasm. I guess it’s a fun foreplay toy but as for getting me over the edge, it won’t ever be able to do that. I figured that the cock ring settings must be adjustable via the app so maybe that I can customise my options as I have done with other app-controlled toys. Maybe I will gain power there?

Sadly not as I have never fully used the app!! And I won’t either.

I searched for the Lovely app in the play store but couldn’t find it. On investigating the packing, I discovered you need to go via the Lovely website to get it. Once I downloaded the app I opened it to discover that it required me to enter my email details. From my memory, I cannot remember another app has required me to do this. The next screen to come up with asking to enter my partner’s details if I wanted to connect to him, however, there was an option to skip this so I did.

The next screen to come up asked me my gender, and then the next one to come up asking my age, my height and my weight. I’m guessing this was to work on my body mass index which isn’t really relevant in my opinion to my sex life. I really don’t care about my body stats and how much fat I burn or how many calories are burnt because simply — I really don’t care –. Sex is about enjoying the moment, not about burning excess fat off! It happens and that’s a bonus but do I need to know how much? Nope. Will I ever want to know? Again, nope!

Next to come up was a ‘desire picker’ screen. Here I can choose categories that interest us and it would give me ‘tips’ base on my choices. There is also a ‘my lovely’ section in which I would have to pay €29.99 a month (A MONTH?????) for sex tips and to chat to a sex educator? Nope.

I didn’t go any further than this because the app has asked me to give it permission to enter my phone storage. Why it means this permission I don’t know?? It wants to see my photos and I’m like no sorry but this is my personal information and I’m not interested so, therefore, I have never actually used this toy with the app because I deleted it once like once I got onto that screen.

So how would I sum up our experiences with the Lovely 2.0 Smart Cock Ring – it’s an expensive paperweight. Ok, Ok!! That is probably a little harsh. The cock ring, app bit aside, is well made, 100% silicone so it is body safe, rechargeable (kinda :/), waterproof. It fits well and stays in place during use, which is a HUGE bonus. The vibrations would suit folk who like gentler vibes – they are rumbly, which again is another bonus. The toy isn’t cheap – you are paying more because it is app compatible and if you are ok with giving it permission for accessing your phone and like gentler vibes, then it really could be a toy for you.

Sadly for me, it is not powerful enough.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Lovely for sending me the Lovely 2.0 Smart Cock Ring in exchange for an honest and impartial review this however in no way changes my opinion on the item. What I honestly think, you read! All images displayed of the Lovely 2.0 Smart Cock Ring are taken by myself!

You’re not the only one to find this product severely lacking and to be honest the app is badly designed and seems to only work if you have an iPhone as we had connectivity issues with our Android phones and I know others have had issues here too.

Oh really? That makes me feel better as I wondered had I lost out never using the app! The app really annoyed me – I feel completely invaded. There was no way I was allowing it to go rummaging through my phone x

Good review, Switch. As an expert on these types of devices, I can tell you it would not be satisfactory just by looking at it. This whole app craze is really ridiculous, when you’re masturbating that’s the last thing you’re going to be doing with your phone. I can think of other things to do with your phone, like looking at your friends photos, or taking photos yourself.

Happy Valentines Day! ❤️

See if you can get Tenuto MysteryVibe to send you their vibrator. Now that is really something. I mentioned it in my latest story.
