BDSM Diaries: Our experiences with the KinkLab Neon Wand

The KinkLab Neon Wand has been on my lust list since I first learned such a thing existed many years ago so first things first, I have to thank the amazing folks over at SheVibe for making my zappy dreams come through. When a toy arrives that I have wanted for long, it already should be amazing in my head so it already has high standards to live up to. Recently I experienced sadness when I reviewed a glass dildo handled flogger I’d wanted since forever and it was awful. Ya, I’m looking at you, Icicles No.38. I literally had everything crossed I love the Kinklab Neon Wand – that was of course before I heard it turned on and then I became scared of it lol, I’ll explain a little more about that though further down.

I remember when I got the confirmation of shipping.  I popped my OH a message while he was at work to let him know we had a Neon Wand on the way for review and he was ecstatic – I knew it was a huge want of his too. When I asked which colour he wanted? – I had picked red knowing my OH would love it – (It also comes in purple.) I got a reply saying he’d be happy with either colour when I told him it had already been dispatched. I must admit I felt extremely smug when I told him I had picked red later on that evening and I saw how pleased he looked. Of course, the colour is only really for aesthetics and doesn’t affect how the wand performs.

So whats in the Kinklab Neon Wand box?

Quite a lot actually – you are spoilt for choice when it comes to all the attachments included. The wand itself is coated in a rubber-like substance, which I’m presuming is to stop the electricity travelling through. There are 4 quite study glass electrodes/attachments included – each electrode is tipped with metal and this is the side that slips into the wand. The wand has a huge length of cable and then I encountered my first issue. I never bloody thought about the plug. We use 3 prong plugs here in Ireland so of course, because Shevibe sent me this, my Neon Wand had come with a US plug. I contacted the manufacturer directly via live chat and was assured in minutes that I’d have no issues using it. Obviously, I needed an adaptor which thankfully we already owned and then the fun started 😀

Please note: you need to remove jewellery before using the wand and it needs to be completely powered off before inserting or removing electrodes. Use lower settings on sensitive skin and the addition of a light fabric over the skin may help if you find the intensity too much, to begin with.

My OH popped in the first attachment as turned it on. The Kinklab Neon Wand is controlled via a twisty dial located at the bottom of the handle. It is super easy to control and the wheel moves with a little stiffness so please don’t worry that it will go to Oooh to Owwh because unless some evil shit is controlling it, it is very beginner friendly 🙂 The noise produced is a mind fuck in itself and is quite terrifying I must admit. Not enough to put me off I must add but none the less, I was scared. My OH tried it on himself first and with ease I witnessed him go from mild to full whack in seconds so I was reassured the even though it sounds scary it isn’t all that bad. We played around testing areas out etc and I soon learned that this was him testing the waters. The wand’s official outing was to come a few days later.

While I was out and about, my OH(who’s at home) popped me a message to let me know the ‘Comb’ attachment wasn’t working. So I got in contact with the Customer Care team at SheVibe(my first experience of this) and got a response almost instantly. In the meantime, the ‘Comb’ started to work again. It turns out the attachment hadn’t been put in place correctly so this is worth noting they need to be pushed in firmly but obviously gently, they are glass after all.  Oh and a quick shoutout to Sandra’s exceptional care when I emailed <3 I am pleased to report if I happen to ever have an issue again it will be dealt with swiftly 🙂

When lifted from direct contact with the skin, each electrode will produce an intense sting and it’s worth noting you need to be moving the electrode constantly and not stay in a particular spot for longer than 10 seconds as you could cause an electrical burn. I know that sounds a bit frightening but in reality, it won’t happen if you pay attention to what you doing. You’ll want to keep zapping away randomly, its fun watching your partner squirm or so I’ve been told. 😉

The Kinklab Neon Wand also comes with a jampacked book of instructions as well as the four electrodes. Each electrode has its own name and they are all different in how they stimulate the skin – Comb, Mushroom, Tongue (looks like a snake’s head to me) and the 90 degree.

Mushroom:

This one lays flat against the skin and is quite tame. It looks like it’s gonna be scary because of the size but I soon realise bigger isn’t always better and small is the key to achieve the ultimate sensations. I am presuming it is called the Mushroom because of its domed shape and indented middle on the underside.

Comb:

I love this one – it’s quite tame in comparison to the rest of the electrodes but you experience a lot more sensations due the Comb have points of contract rather than one. It’s also really pretty to look at.

Tongue:

This one is a mix between how the mushroom and 90 degree feels in relation to sensations. I guess I can kinda see why it’s called the Tongue but it looks more like a snake’s head to me. Definalty more pinpointed in sensations than the Comb and Mushroom – I’d recommend trying the sensations of the tongue first before moving onto the 90 degree.

90 Degree:

This one is certainly the most intense as all the sensations are pinpointed and I was thrown that something so small could be the evilest but it is.

We have used the Neon Wand so many times now but I am gonna tell you about the night I really fell in love with it.

I am shackled to the bed, completely starfished and held in place with rope. This night in particular, if I remember correctly, I kept trying to Top from the bottom and was being bratty in relation to how our play was going to go. That soon ended. Without any words and just a look, my Sir gagged and blindfolded me. From being mouthy and seeing everything, to being in complete darkness and a soon to be dribbling mess is quite intense on the senses.

Sir is quite smart in how he plays – nothing is ever on display. He likes to aural games and within seconds he is rummaging around one of the kink drawers. I can hear metal clinging together, pretty certain it’s the carabiner clips on the spreader bar but can’t be sure. He is still in the drawer and yet within seconds, a flogger hits my skin. How he managed to do that I have no idea. My skin is repeatedly flogged, which I’ll admit to loving. Next, I am hit with a crop and it continues until I can tell him which crop it is. He played this game with several crops, floggers and paddles until my ass is red enough, the heat radiating off it could heat the room.

All goes quiet and next thing the Neon Wand buzzed into life near my ears. My heart starts to pump, he reduces the power and the noise starts to move slowly in the direction of my lower body until it finally stops and I’m greeted with the softest of kisses on the inside of legs, which slowly move inwards. I am concentrating on the pleasure each stroke of his tongue creates, I don’t realise he has powered up the wand again until it hits my skin. In a heady mix of pain and pleasure, he licks, nibbles and zaps my vulva, clit and body. A flogger hits my skin, again and again, then the wand and his kisses. The circle continued to repeat until and my body experiences one of the most intense orgasms I have ever experienced.

The Neon Wand is certainly different and if you are a complete beginner to electrical play, it is the most perfect place to start. I was sent an Electrastim set to review and was a little intimidated but since understanding the sensations of electrical play – am very happy to proceed with our adventure. It’s also worth mentioning you really don’t need to be into BDSM play to use the Kinklab Neon Wand – genuinely its addition is just like adding vibrator into the mix. It can be as tame as a evil as you want. We love it – it has been the centre of a lot of our playtimes – both vanilla and harder since it arrived. It’s awesome <3

You can get your own Neon Wand in red here or in purple here

I would like to take the opportunity to thank SheVibe for sending me Kinklab Neon Wand in exchange for an honest and impartial review – this however in no way changes my opinion on the item. What I honestly think, you read! All images displayed of Kinklab Neon Wand are taken by myself.
