Notes of jasmine, hardwood and spices, sweet rose and an exotic touch of ylang-ylang” – Bijoux site description
When I signed up to try out the Bijoux Indiscrets Aphrodisha Massage Oil I did so with my OH in mind. He loves all those scents mentioned above – I thought considering how busy our work schedule is and me being “the good wife” as he likes to call me – I’d treat him to a massage.
If you read my Maze H Harness review – you’ll already know how much Bijoux Indiscrets packaging impresses me and Bijoux Indiscrets Aphrodisha Massage Oil follows suit. Really impressive! But for 20 euro a bottle for a 100ml it would want to have an expensive feel.
Inside the box, the bottle is safely sealed with a plastic stopper – once you remove this, the included pump can be inserted into the bottle. The overall appearance of the bottle is quite pretty – keeping in theme with the outer packaging but truth be told I was more interested in seeing and feeling in the contents.
The pump dispenses quite a small amount of product and little does not go a long way – you need lots so expect yourself to be pumping away for quite some time.
On opening the bottle, we swiftly discovered there was nothing masculine or even unisex about the smell. It was definitely a feminine smell and I will admit I was secretly delighted as I was now going to be the receiver instead of the originally intended giver. This, however, was my first and only time using the Bijoux Indiscrets Aphrodisha Massage Oil.
It’s not nice.
In fact, the only real positive thing I have to say is I like the packaging.
I don’t like the smell. I don’t like the texture. I don’t like the after effects and so I could actually enjoy the massage, my OH changed over to using our very favourite massage oil instead. The Bijoux Indiscrets Aphrodisha Massage Oil scent is seriously overpowering – I can get none of those mentioned scents when I smell it. Maybe the jasmine and rose at a push. But those lovely hardwood and spices don’t exist and if they do, they are in the bottle in very minimal quantities.
The texture is horrible – it doesn’t absorb into the skin. It sits on it. And to be fair why would it? Let’s break down those ingredients for a second, shall we?!
Helianthus Annus Seed Oil Parfum, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Alpha-isomethyl Ionone, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene, Carboxaldehyde Hydroxycitronella,l Benzyl Salycilate, Benzyl Cinnamate, Eugenol, Linalool.
The Helianthus Annus Seed Oil is sunflower oil and really isn’t great in terms of absorption. Though on its own, it should be able to be absorbed. Bijoux Indiscrets advertise the product as 100% natural but most of the ingredients according to Google are in fact synthetic and are known skin irritants. Linalool is a well-known skin irritant and folks complain of getting reactions after using products that contain it and so are the hyde this and benzyl that. You don’t have natural products with names like that. One of those ingredients is actually known for smelling (or stinking, whichever you prefer) of Lily of the Valley yet that isn’t advertised as a scent.
Surely a product that claims to be –
“Made from natural ingredients that are beneficial for the skin. It reinvents the pleasures of touch and is good for your skin, moisturizing it and infusing it with temptation.” –
should be ok to apply all over the body but they say it’s not suitable for intimate areas.
The more I dip into information about the ingredients, the more I’m glad it was on my skin for a short amount of time. These ingredients also explain the break out on my back after using the product.
“Both men and women love this sensual aroma, subtle but with an
exotic touch. Its aphrodisiac ingredients, stimulates play and desire,
attracting 9 out of 10 men.”
Well my OH must be the 1 in 10 that is completely turned off by it. Honestly, I really can’t recommend this product. It was a serious miss for us.
If you want a really fab, natural massage oil that smells bloody delicious and contains no nasties – buy this instead <3
The Bijoux Indiscrets Aphrodisha Massage Oil was sent to me from Bijoux Indiscrets in exchange for an honest and impartial review – this however in no way changes my opinion on the item. What I honestly think, you read. All images of the Bijoux Indiscrets Aphrodisha Massage Oil are taken by myself.
