Review: KinkCraft Bondage Candles

I love bondage candles. I love the sensation each drip creates. I also love colour. In fact , I announced the following morning on twitter that my body had been a ‘canvas’ the night before and KinkCraft Bondage Candles were the tools used.

KinkCraft reached out and asked if I’d like to review some bondage candles they had just added to their collection and because well, yanno, I opened this review saying how much I love bondage candles and colour, I jumped at the chance.

KinkCraft are a fairly new company but their fun approach to make your kink has got consumers interested as you get to “make your play” in the shape of stunning floggers. Of course, if you aren’t the hands on, artistic type, you can also buy them already made. Personally though, the idea of making your own impact item is what got me originally interested in KinkCraft as a company.

I got sent two candles and a jug to review. The set arrived in a black box with the KinkCraft logo embossed on the lid. From the get go it was obvious the items were handmade, which I love . I love knowing someone went to bother to pack my item individually. The jug is filled with wax and didn’t have any labels attached to it. The candles, each have a band of paper with the company’s name attached and it’s secured via a little sticker at the back of the candle. Personally, I would like to see a sticker or some form of labeling on the jug – but maybe that’s just me? I would have preferred the candles to have been individually wrapped to protect them in transit as when I opened the little black box – the silver jug was full of wax. Now, I know I sound extremely picky after you have read all that and I guess I kinda am but it’s more constructive criticism rather than being picky.

In use, we really loved the candles. I say ‘We’ as I also actually got to decorate my OHs chest, tummy and thighs with wax <3 The colours they left on his skin were so frigging pretty. KinkCraft advertise them as being low temp and easy to wash off so I convinced him to let me decorate him as my OH is furball and he really didn’t like the idea of picking wax out of his body hair. The rich purple wax that was in the jug washed off a lot easier than the candle wax did – in fact, once the skin moves really the wax tends to peel off quite easily off the skin. For a beginner or if you are furry like my OH, this is ideal.

We each found the red candle to produce a KinkCraft Bondage Candles lower temperature than the turquoise candle did. The red candle could be used very close to skin and it’s ‘sting’ was very mild in comparison to the turquoise candle which had to be held higher and the ‘sting’ it produced was far superior to the red candle. We enjoyed this and got off on playing with different temperatures. The jug’s temperature was very mild and could more or less be applied to the skin without the usual need for height. We will also get many other go’s out of each candle but will be unable to use the jug again. The wick inside the jug burnt down too quickly, we just had enough wick to cover us both. This makes me sad as there is quite a bit of pretty purple wax left.

The candles wax lasted a lot better than the jug wax and required a bit of ‘elbow grease’ to remove the wax in shower. We took turns washing each other off. While one ‘melted’ under the hot water, they washed the other and it actually made clean up fun. We both disliked the smell the jug wax produced under the hot water though.

So, all this got us talking and the curiosity got the better of me so I popped an email over to the lovely Pixie asking about the materials used, the wick, smell etc.

Burnt down wick.

The candles are made from scent free soya while the jugs are also scent free, they are made from paraffin wax. Paraffin wax burns at lower temp than the soya but this also explains the different textures and the smell we got in the shower. Pixie really welcomed the feedback and was so positive in her replies. She thanked me and explained KinkCraft are going to play around and find a more suitable wick etc so customers will get the full use of all that wax. It’s refreshing to find a company that responds so quickly with ways on how they will fix any issues.

I, for one, am quite excited to see what they will come up with.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank KinkCraft for sending me these bondage candles in exchange for an honest and impartial review this however in no way changes my opinion on the item. What I honestly think, you read!  All images displayed of these KinkCraft Candles are taken by myself!

Awesome review, thank you.

We have talked about how we could have multiple wicks in the jugs to get more of the wax to melt, but that one has gone quicker than I would have liked 🙁 more work to do there. You make a great point about a putting the details on the jugs, something else that is on my list right now, will get it sorted 🙂
